The common people strongly opposed the Vietnam War. A large number of women took to the streets to rally against the government. In the later period of the 1960s, dynamic students from the college campuses joined in to fight against the use of Nuclear Weapons. After the destructive bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Anti- Nuclear weapon movement began. Humanity witnessed the destruction done by bombs.
Another movement that gave liberation to the suppressed humanity was the sexual revolution. The people of the 1960s challenged the traditional norms of love and marriage. This revolution was more of a freedom to people with different sexual orientations and preferences. People could choose their partner and how many ever they wanted to have.

Counter culture has stepped in and stopped people from making the wrong decisions. One can say that counter culture has come from the seeds of people who saw the world differently. The ones that wanted to see happy people and joyful homes. They are the ones that believed in enabling people to express their individuality. Films, music, and literature projected a liberating world. As a result, they gave people the tools to express themselves.
