Asking how to have a hippie style is kind of like asking how to be Asian or Hispanic; you are, it is something that’s a part of you which isn’t learned – it just is. But then there’s the realization that you’re asking about “lifestyle,” which isn’t the same thing at all, really.
The “lifestyle” of the typical hippies is as diverse as the lifestyle of any other collected group of people; each has its definition, their conceptions, and styles of presenting these common traits that make us “hippies.” But there are some core elements that seem to define hippies. Here’s a shortlist of what it takes to have a hippie style of living. It is not a definitive list, or hard and fast, ascribed in stone, and its fluid – just like hippies!
Love Is The Answer For A Hippie Life Style – In An Uncliched Way
It sounds cliche, but perhaps only because it rings true. Hippies believe, above all, Love is The Answer. It was right in the summer of Love, and it’s true today. You don’t have to love what you do to be happy. Love to myself, however, is the key to making financial dreams come true. Love is not easy, and it’s very hard. It is one of the most difficult challenges in life, but it’s essential in the quality of satisfaction in one’s life.
Think For Yourself
One of the best defining elements of a hippie is their sense of self in thinking about so many things. Being an individual, expressing yourself and letting the real “you” shine are common among many hippies. But there are many, many more that, like most people simply think with a sheepish attitude, even “hippies”. Some act and believe like others even though they may not truly believe or understand the matters. This sense of independence is, like Love, not easy to attain because there’s so much minutia out there.
A hippie tends to think for themselves, no matter what the crowd thinks. It’s sometimes expressed by the clothes hippies wear, the music they dance with or the relationships they build with others. It is a form of self-definition, of separating oneself from the masses.
Love the Planet That Loves You
If we don’t take care of the Earth, if we don’t care for nature it will not be there to take of us either. It’s kind of like the “Love” thing mentioned and it extends to the land and all life around us. Hippies understand the importance of ecology, of the environment because we truly feel the connection. Humans are part of a complex and intricate biosphere and if we continue to act like the cancerous organism on the planet, we will be exterminated to save the whole Earth. Hippies started Earth Day, hippies advocate a return to the land, a natural diet and homeopathic approach to wellness.
Hippie life isn’t complicated or about being high. That’s just the media portrayal of hippies. Their lifestyle is about giving love and feeling the love. That’s it.
